Cal & Ella…

I have been so blessed to be able to photograph these two sweet twins several times before and I have also been blessed to call their WONDERFUL mama my friend.  Some families are just special.  They are kind, loving, smart, funny, and just all around good people.  This is that kind of family.  Tracey & Brian’s love for these two beautiful babies is so evident in everything they do and everything they say.  I am just so lucky to be able to witness it.

Tracey, I know we didn’t get smiles out of Ella but her face is so sweet in these two images.  And Mr. Cal could not be more handsome.  Thank you so much for continuing to trust me with their pictures.  I know how important it is to document these precious times in their lives and I just feel so privileged that you let me be the one to do it.

Enjoy your sneak peek!

January 17, 2012 - 9:10 pm Tracey - Awww....thank you Laurie! As usual you have done a fabulous job with my difficult to photo children! :) I love all four but the top two are my favorites so far! Can't wait to see the rest!

miracles do happen!

So I was just going along in my every day life being wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of the season not really noticing anything else around me.  Sometimes when I get so busy and things seemed so rushed I kind of have blinders on to the outside world until something really shakes me and wakes me up.

Yesterday I had a photo session with a beautiful little girl named Evangeline.  The meaning of her name is “bearer of good news” and “like an angel”.  That just couldn’t be more true of this sweet little miracle.

I feel unbelievably honored to have met Evangeline’s mother, Tarah, because to me she is a true inspiration.  Tarah has lost TWO children to Krabbes disease.  It is rare terminal neuro-degenerative disease that took her angel son Steven at the age of 18 months and her angel daughter Alilia at just 6 weeks old.  I looked at her last night while we were talking and got teared up because I literally can’t believe all she has been through.  Her strength and faith just showed through as she talked about her beautiful babies and about her true little miracle, Evangeline.

Evangeline is a carrier for Krabbes but will never get the disease.  She is a shining example of God’s grace and love and I am so happy God gave her to Tarah.  Not to replace her beloved babies but for Tarah to have and love for the rest of her life.  Tarah has three children.  She has two angels in heaven and one angel here on earth.  I am SO blessed to have had the chance to meet these incredible people and really see God’s love and grace in action.

Tarah, THANK YOU so much for allowing me to spend time with you, your wonderful mom, and your adorable daughter yesterday.  You have changed my life just by telling me your story and my blinders are now off.  I thought about all the blessings in my life this morning and just sat and was grateful.  I already made a decision awhile ago that my New Year’s resolution would be to be more grateful and more thankful for what I have and I have started that resolution today because of you!

God bless you and enjoy your sneak peek!

December 22, 2011 - 8:48 pm Kari Kaczan - I have to say, I know Tarah and I know her because we met because of what we have in common. Krabbes is a form of Leukodystrophy and we were introduced through someone that I know from my MLD board. When I first met Tarah at her mother's home, heard her story, I knew that she was an AMAZING woman and mother for what she went through and how she went through it with such grace! Laurie, the pictures that you captured for Tarah and Evangeline are absolutely BEAUTIFUL and capture the special bond between them! As always, you did an AMAZING job on these pictures and I know for a fact that Tarah is overjoyed with them because she called me this afternoon after she saw them and could not stop saying wonderful things about you! :) This was a perfect match to come together and create these beautiful portraits for this blessed family! love to you all!

December 22, 2011 - 2:23 pm Brianne Harrison - Beautiful story, beautiful family, beautiful pictures! Thank you for sharing!

December 22, 2011 - 1:53 pm Nikki - I am in tears at both her story and the beautiful images you have posted. Laurie, you captured more than just the perfect "shot" in these beautiful portraits..............You captured a glimpse of Heaven & their beautiful souls shine through in each & every picture. GREAT job! What a beautiful little girl (I absolutely LOVE her name too btw).

sweet little travis…

I have been nervous in the past to photograph “older” newborns.  The reason I like to get newborns in for their first photo session in the first two weeks of life is because after that several things occur.  They sleep less and a lot less soundly which makes posing them into those adorable curled up positions much more difficult.  They also develop cradle cap and infant acne and they don’t have control over their legs and arms so they often flail about.  Their expressions can also not be so pleasing because they haven’t developed focus yet.  BUT…

In between the shots that might not be what mom and dad were hoping for are some of the BEST shots of all.  Those magical little moments that are sometimes EVEN BETTER than the curled up sleeping shots.  Those are the kind of shots I got of this beautiful baby boy and his gorgeous mama and handsome daddy!

I am so beyond thrilled with these images and now can say I LOVE photographing older newborns.  Travis is 8 weeks old and that seems to be a GREAT age to do an “older” newborn session!  His sweet little grin just melts my heart and seriously, could his mom be any more gorgeous?  I mean she just had a baby 8 weeks ago and this is how she looks.  JEALOUS!  :)

Lori and David, THANK YOU so much for bringing your sweet angel boy in yesterday for his very first photo shoot!  David, I know it could not have been easy being patient with us for 3 hours but I think you will agree the time we spent really paid off.  Lori, I hope these images are all you were dreaming of and more!  Enjoy your sneak peek and thank you so much again!

December 19, 2011 - 9:22 pm JoAnn - These photos and Laurie's beautiful words brought tears to my eyes. I imagine Lori's Grandma Wielen smiling down from heaven with so much pride and love.

December 19, 2011 - 6:56 pm Lori - OMG these are absolutely the cutest i've ever seen! lol You did such an amazing job Laurie! I couldnt be happier! To capture my family so beautifully leaves me speachless! Thank you so much! Lori, David and Travis.

Zach….

This little sweetheart not only melted my heart but my son’s heart too.  Zach’s mama is SO good about uploading videos of Zach on Facebook and my son just LOVES watching them so when I told him my session yesterday was with Zach, Jacob immediately said he wanted to come.  Jacob hasn’t stopped talking about Zach since!

This adorable little boy was born 3 months premature but you can’t tell that at all.  He is doing so well and is growing just perfectly!  I believe all the love and care his wonderful mom and dad have given him has really helped him along.  The love that they have for this little baby boy is so evident in everything they do and say and it’s an honor for me to witness.

Rachel, THANK YOU for allowing my son and I to spend time with Zach and you and John yesterday.  We both enjoyed it so much and we can’t wait to see you all again when he turns 1!!

Enjoy your sneak peek!

November 28, 2011 - 9:18 pm Rachel - I love love love these pictures! I think the ones in the Santa hat may be the cutest pictures ever taken of Zach. Thanks so much!

angel girl…

Well I think these pictures really speak for themselves.  In them you can see that this tiny little baby girl is so sweet and so angelic and I really, really, really wanted to take her home.  :)   I know what you are thinking.  “Laurie, you are SO lucky.”  And to that I reply, “YES, I really am!”  Sometimes I think I should pinch myself to check and make sure this is really my job.  Being in the presence of these brand new little human beings and seeing how much their moms and dads love them is SUCH an honor.

Stacie and Terry, THANK YOU for trusting me with these very special first pictures of your beautiful daughter.  Your faith in me really means more to me than you can ever know and I hope that with these images I have captured memories for you that will last a lifetime.  Enjoy your sneak peek and give that sweet princess a kiss for me!

pure joy!

That is what this little angel girl is, PURE JOY!  Sweet Lili is 18 months old but she cooperated like a 6 year old.  She never made a peep during all the outfit changes and it was SO cute how she LOVED her pretty pink boots!  She sat where we asked her too, smiled her precious smile, and all the while melted my heart with her sweetness!

I have been blessed to know Miss Lili since she was born because her wonderful parents have trusted me with all of her photo sessions and for that I am so very grateful.  I am so lucky to not only get to watch Lili grow but also spend time with her fabulous parents whom I have come to adore as well.

Stephanie and Fernando, THANK YOU so much for bringing your lovely daughter in today.  As always it was so much fun and I hope you love these images as much as I do!

November 5, 2011 - 9:14 pm Jenn - Gorgeous as always! Her pictures always turn out amazing!

they have been with me from the beginning…

This family is very special to me because they are some of my very first clients.  I was honored to take their oldest son’s pictures shortly after he was born and I have been photographing this beautiful family ever since.  I have enjoyed each and every session we have together and I am SO grateful to them for trusting me and being so loyal to me all of these years!

Jill, it was such a pleasure hanging out with you and your family at Chippewa Nature Center on Sunday.  Ben, Nathan, and Ella were SO great to work with.  They are all so cute and so funny!!  Tell Scott I am sorry he missed out on hunting that day but I hope after looking at these images he doesn’t mind too much.

I hope you enjoy your sneak peek and thank you so much again for allowing me to be your photographer!

November 1, 2011 - 8:08 pm Nikki - These are fantastic Laurie! LOVE LOVE LOVE the family shot! Beautiful!

reid…

Reid was AWESOME!  Not only did he not complain but he was down right enthusiastic about getting his Senior pictures taken.  That is not the norm for Senior guys!  He was such a pleasure to work with and I am sure you can tell from the images that he is extremely handsome and photogenic too!

Reid, thanks for making my job so easy and so much fun!  Normally my sneak peeks include 3-5 images but as you can see below I couldn’t narrow them down because there were just too many great ones to choose from!  Here you go!

I can’t believe he’s turning 2!

It seems like just yesterday that my dear friend called me and told me they had a son.  It all happened so fast.  The adoption agency called and she and her husband didn’t even think twice, in their hearts they knew this was their son before they even met him.

Now almost two years later this beautiful boy has such a sweet personality and is SO much fun.  My kids ADORE him and they love to play with him.  Every time he smiles I smile and I just love him to pieces!

Melissa, I am SO very happy for you and this wonderful little family of yours.  You are a WONDERFUL mom and you are raising such a sweet little boy.  I hope you love these images as much as I do.  Love you bunches!
